Bunchy Carter was born in Los Angeles on October 12, 1942. He died January 17, 1969 after being shot at UCLA in a confrontation with the US Organization. Bunchy started off as a leader of the Slauson, but after doing some time in jail, ended up becoming the leader of the Black Panther Party in Los Angeles. One accomplishment of Bunchy Carter is turning around the lives of the members of the Slausons and making them into responsible and respectable people. Part of what made Bunchy Carter a good leader was that he never gave up on people. Even after he changed his life, he was still willing to work with the gang members in the Slausons to help them change their life also.

Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate… Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.
